NC House candidate Sue Counts attended the December 17 public hearing at the Watauga County Commission concerning the reclassification of the Watauga River, a necessary step for the Town of Beech Mountain to draw water from the river. The massive crowd at the hearing was unanimously opposed to the reclassification. Dozens of citizens spoke against the plan; no one spoke for it. The Watauga County Commission then voted unanimously against the reclassification. Sue Counts was there to listen and learn about the growing issues of water conservation in North Carolina.
